Arel Limited,
3 companies with nominally 90 employees, that are now operating as
one, brings to the jobs undertaken a breadth of skills and
experience unique in the construction industry in Jamaica. This
results in the smooth implementing of the tasks in three major trade
areas, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Services.
- Cranbrook Electrical Limited,
founded in 1967, carries out major electrical
installations, particularly new construction of
office buildings. As distributors for Schindler
& Co., the company installs and maintains
elevator installations throughout Jamaica.
|
- LHS Communications Limited
started in 1972, is the electronic arm of the
group. Installation of x-ray systems, broadcast
studio equipment and large conference systems
have been the main activities, which are now
consolidated into Arel Limited.
|
- Arel Limited,
founded in 1968, is a mechanical contractor
providing air conditioning systems with emphasis
on larger applications. Hospitals, Airports,
Hotels, Office Buildings, Factories are included
in our past and present work. While chilled
water features in many of the larger projects
completed, the company has undertaken many
direct expansion and "mini-split" installations.
The acquisition of Cranbrook Electrical and LHS
Communications led to a merger of all staff and
activities under AREL LIMITED.

The Group has operated as one company since
1981. In consequence of this merger all projects
undertaken have access to all the skills in the
Group. In practice this means that in the
installation of medical x-ray, as an example,
the company can design and install the power
supply required, carry out mechanical support
structure installation, provide air conditioning
if required and finally supply and install the
equipment. One team with one line of
responsibility. In other areas the availability
of complementary trades from within the company
has enhanced our ability to undertake the
installation of systems that have elements of
more than one main trade, electrical plus
mechanical and/or electronic. The diversity of
skills has helped us to embrace new
developments, in particular the introduction of
modern control systems in air conditioning and
elevator equipment. Stemming from an
understanding of both the practical object of
the controls and how they operate.
|
| |
| Arel has not followed the local trend toward
"sub-contracting" tasks and continues to directly
employ specialist tradesmen in the interest of
maintaining employment continuity and hence quality
control. The only exception is metal fabrication for
ducts which is carried out in our shop with payment
based on poundage produced and fixed. |

|
There is a common thread running through all
three divisions and that is SERVICE. The
Group provides construction related
supply/install systems and takes on the after
installation service for equipment supplied.
Mobile service crews provide preventative
maintenance service to customer owned elevators,
air conditioning, building management, medical
and conference systems.

The synergy that stems from the fusion of the
operations of the three companies has a tangible
benefit for the customer that justifies our
slogan: "Smooth
Sailing with Arel!"
